Shirin (4) and Cihan (1) in Istanbul. Their parents fled Syria in 2012. The kids’ mother Neyruz explains: “We lived in Aleppo for two years under bombs and air raids. There were no supplies, not even bread available.”
After originally fleeing to Afrin, the family continued on to Turkey where they stayed in Neyruz family’s living room. The children’s life is slowly improving thanks to the occupation of their father Abdulhanan who works in a printing shop earning $320 a month.
Abdulhanan does not see well and would benefit from an eye exam and glasses. The children are in need of diapers, milk, clothes and food. After the family pays their rent, it is hard to afford anything else.
