Shaymaa and Sham

Shaymaa and Sham

Shaymaa (4) is Syrian and her sister Sham (1) was born a refugee in Lebanon. In early 2014, after a routine trip to the store for food and diapers, the girls’ father Ghassan was arrested and continuously beaten until their uncle was able to pay enough to free him. Immediately following this incident the family fled the country.

Now in Bekaa Valley, Lebanon, Ghassan works on a daily basis picking up any labor jobs he can find to sustain.

Both Shaymaa and Sham have cerebral palsy. Sham also faces epileptic convulsions and psychomotor impairment and Shaymaa also suffers from epilepsy.

When asked about their top needs, Ghassan and his wife Fadia named diapers, medicine, a stroller and help with doctor bills.

SUPPORT NETWORK

Kyle Elizabeth Freeman
Host
I live in Boston, Massachusetts with my 13 year old dog, who is 30 years younger than me. I'm blessed to have a warm cozy home, healthy food, and good friends, but am challenged with multiple chronic health issues that currently limit my life in radical ways, prevent me from traveling, and make me feel powerless to do all that I want to in the world. A friend recently told me about Humanwire, and I realized that raising money and support for a refugee family who doesn't have the same access to a comfortable home, medical care, and food that my network and I have access to, is something I CAN do from home! Something WE can do!
$5000 Goal

When I saw the photo of Shaymaa and Sham on Humanwire and read a little bit about their story, I knew this was the family I wanted to raise money for.

Here is the information I have so far from the Humanwire page, but I hope to learn more as we go, which I will share:

“Shaymaa (4) is Syrian and her sister Sham (1) was born a refugee in Lebanon. There is so much happening in the world that can make us feel powerless. Helping one refugee family feels like a wonderfully concrete way to make a difference.

So I’m dedicating myself to raising $5000. for this family.

Will you please help?

Thank you so much!
