Shah Hamdoush

Shah Al Hamdoush (61) is pictured here with her daughter Amal (29) and Amal’s son Ahamad (10) on December 1, 2015 in Bekka Lebanon. Amal’s other son, Khaled (6) is not pictured.

Shah is a widow from the town of Al Ashafie, Aleppo, Syria. She fled with her family in 2013 after their house was destroyed by a bomb and have been in a cloth and plastic tent since Aug, 2014.

When asked about their top needs, Shah cited oil for the winter, food and a heater. When asked about other needs Shah said she would like to pay off her accumulated 2-year debt from lack of income.

We asked the two kids Ahamad and Hkaled if there was anything that they would like. They said they would just like to complete their education and “eat good food”.

Saadia Qureshi
I am a 33-year-old stay-at-home mom who loves my family and would do whatever it takes to keep them safe, warm, educated, and healthy Insha Allah. If I was ever in this type of situation, I would want someone to care and help me and my family.
$6000 Goal

I am a British born, Indian Muslim living in Illinois with my husband, Shareem, and three children, Hiba (10), Hammad (6), and Hana (1). The refugee crisis has opened our eyes to the injustice happening around the world and the stories we have heard and read about have questioned our faith in humanity. We wanted to help, but didn’t know how to directly impact those that need our help the most. We stumbled upon the Humanwire campaign and just knew this is our chance to make a difference in the lives of a family much like our own. We live on one income and live paycheck to paycheck, but Allah has blessed us with so much and we want to give back. We want to show our children the importance of kindness, generosity, and charity. “None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself (Bukhari and Muslim).” This was an important saying by our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and we want to follow his example Insha Allah. May Allah have mercy on all those suffering around the world.

At least four quarterly emails will be sent to all contributors with status and progress reports related to activity on the campaign. This may include information about the successful transfer of funds to a hospital, a photo of the recipient after a successful surgery, etc.

Contributors will be provided with a local address to send food, clothes, school supplies and letters of support directly to the family’s door. This is a great way to build one-to-one relationships and potentially provide more needed support down the road. Plus, everything included in the $5 reward.

Attend a live video chat session with the host and refugee. Introduce yourself and time-permitting, spark up a conversation along with others involved in the campaign. A translator will be provided for English when needed. Plus, everything included in the $5 and $15 rewards.

Engage in a 30 minute one-to-one live video chat. An arabic translator will be provided for French or English. Plus, everything included in the $5, $15 and $25 rewards.

Everything in the $45 reward, four times! You can give them away to others or enjoy them all yourself. Each of the four rewards comes with everything offered in the $45 reward and below.

Thinking of traveling? Humanwire can help with recommendations for your itinerary. This could be a great opportunity to meet and connect more closely with the refugee family that will be benefitting from your contribution. For dinner, Humanwire will provide local transportation for everyone. Also, everything included in all prior rewards.
