From Syria, Safa’s kids reading after school.
Safa is an educator, a mother of two children, a loving wife and a dedicated daughter in-law. Her days consist of looking after the members of her family, working to get her children educated and trying to find employment for herself to make rent payments. In 2015, shells destroyed the family’s home in Damascus, injuring Safa’s husband Ibrahim. Shortly afterwards, Ibrahim was imprisoned and tortured, a regular occurrence in the war zone. The family fled after his release and have been living in Turkey. Safa’s mother in-law has an ailing heart and the entire family is in need of support to see them through what has turned out to be a much longer war than anyone expected.
