Khatoun (4) stands near her tent in a refugee camp in Lebanon. Khatoun’s family fled their home in Syria in 2012, when she was just a few months old. They left suddenly in a panic and have since learned that their house was bombed.
Now in Lebanon, neither of Khatoun’s parents are working due to health problems. Khatoun has three siblings, Ibrahim (2), Youssef (1) and Mohammad (7), all of whom require attention and care by their mother.
The family lists winter clothing, food, heater oil and assistance with debt payments as their greatest needs. Additionally, Khatoun has a severe astigmatism and requires regular medication.
