Ayda is from a village in Syria near Damascus. In 2012, she was studying Biology at the university but her life changed abruptly when her home was destroyed by bombs. Her family took shelter in the basement and then fled to another part of Syria. Having stayed close to a year, her father was arrested and spent two months in prison. Once freed, Ayda fled with her father to Lebanon and the rest of the five person family soon followed. Ayda’s two brothers were studying computer science and dentistry and mentioned they would like to finish their studies and find work in their area of interest but currently work as a mechanic and blacksmith to keep the entire family afloat.

Jacqueline Koay
I am a mother of five. Having volunteered at refugee camps during the intifada, I have always been passionate about creating better lives for people who are victims of world events out of their (and our) control. I was educated at Manchester University and the University of Oxford, which had given me tremendous opportunities. I hope you will support Ayda to give her similar opportunities.
$500 Goal

Please help me to help Ayda to help her family. Please read her bio. You will see that they are a genuine, hardworking family who has tried so hard to rebuild their lives despite the adversity.

They are not just opportunists waiting for hand-outs. You can also, through Humanwire, arrange to meet Ayda and her family.

By helping Ayda to continue her education, you are helping to create a better future for her whole family. Please help me do something positive for the world tomorrow.

Thank you.
