Aya and Marwa are four-year-old twins. Their mother explains how they ended up in Lebanon: “In 2013, I was living with my husband and daughters in a village called Taqsees in the countryside of Hama, when the Syrian regime entered our village and clashed with the Free Army. They began bombing us by aircraft and tanks. My husband escaped to another area in Idlib and I escaped to my parents house with my daughters, then fled to Lebanon. After eight months in Lebanon, my parents told me that my husband was arrested so I returned to my village to find him where I searched for two years but found any information and eventually lost hope. Due to the fear of war, I returned to Lebanon again with my 2 daughters and my husband’s parents on in February, 2016.”
The family listed a heater, refrigerator and carpet as top needs. Other needs include a washing machine, blankets and to pay off their debts. Aya said she would like to attend kindergarten and Marwa said she would like a barbie.
