Sisters Alaa (12), Marah (11) and Qamar (1) stand outside their temporary shelter in Lebanon. They fled their home in the countryside of Damascus with their brother Amer (8) and parents after a shell fell on their home due to the intense fighting. Thankfully the family was not injured, but the children are still traumatized. After staying with relatives and moving around Syria for just over a year, they traveled to Lebanon searching for a better, more stable life.
Now in Lebanon, their mother has been unable to find work and their father cannot work due to a spinal issue. Without employment the family fears falling further into debt. Alaa, Marah and Amer all attend school, but are behind in their studies due to the war.
