Aisha (22) fears for her life. Originally from Afghanistan, she lived as a refugee for sixteen years in Pakistan with her family until forced back to her home country by the Pakistani government. A few weeks into rebuilding their lives in Afghanistan, a man asked Aisha to marry him. Her family tried to explain that they weren’t interested as Aisha wanted to continue her studies. What they didn’t know was that this man was a powerful leader in his vicinity. Since he threatened to have Aisha shot or stoned in front of her family for refusing the offer, they agreed to the marriage. As the family was preparing for the wedding, her parents sought help from friends and family, gathering as much money as they could to escape the country.
Having recently arrived to Turkey, the family is having a difficult time finding work, mitigating asylum, and integrating into a new society, as refugees.
